Our story

Born on a long shift.

Medique was co-founded in Melbourne in 2024 by Dr. Kwan Joo (KJ) Lee and Dr. Andrea Sun — Australian clinicians working across aesthetic medicine, men's health, obstetrics & gynaecology, and medicinal cannabis — after one too many shifts in scrubs that bagged at the wrong place, pilled after a month, and made them look (and feel) like they'd been working a graveyard shift even when they hadn't.

We started with one set, in three colours, sold to colleagues. We now make twelve pieces in four signature pastels, ship Australia-wide from Melbourne, and have over 12,000 healthcare professionals on our list.

Everything we make is tested in real Australian hospitals before it ships. We don't release a piece until at least 30 nurses, registrars, consultants and surgeons have given us a "yes."

What we believe

Three things, in order.

Function before fashion.

If a scrub looks beautiful but rides up during a squat, it's a failed scrub. We design for the body in motion — not the body on a hanger.

Considered colour.

Pastels that flatter under hospital lighting. Tones that hide stains better than people think. A palette built on what works on real wards, not on Instagram.

Every Medique piece passes through 30+ healthcare professionals — across hospitals, clinics, theatres and consultancies — before it goes to production.

Materials

Mediflex™.
Engineered, not borrowed.

Most "performance" scrubs are made from off-the-shelf athleisure fabric — the same material your activewear is cut from. We worked with a Melbourne-based textile lab for eighteen months to develop Mediflex™: a four-way stretch weave designed specifically for the demands of hospital work.

74% recycled polyester (closed-loop), 22% rayon (breathable), 4% spandex (movement). Antimicrobial silver-ion treatment is bonded into the weave — not sprayed on the outside. It survives 200+ wash cycles without losing performance.

Sustainability

Honest, not performative.

We use recycled polyester from PET bottles for the structural fibres in all our garments. We ship in compostable mailers. Our shipping is carbon-offset through Greenfleet's native reforestation programme.

We're not "100% sustainable" — we don't think any clothing brand can honestly claim to be. But we're transparent about where we are, and where we want to go. We publish our supply chain. We answer questions about it openly. And we're always trying to do better.
